Surely, Brown Jordan is really lucky to have Steve Elton in making luxury outdoor furniture. Elton has served as the chief brand curator of such company and really served the business with all his life. For 30 weekends each year, he would hop on the plane and would travel to one of the high-end showrooms of the company in order to meet with the customers, clients and also staff and share his knowledge on design and also sell merchandise.
It was in the year 1990 that Brown Jordan hired Elton as a sales representative but it wasn’t the job he wanted to have. He actually wanted to be able to use his creativity. In his 20s, he actually attended a design school and had a class on branding. He was really inspired by the Brown Jordan ads that he saw. The ads were what motivated him to dream about working for the company.
As one who grew up in New Jersey, he actually spent much of his time in playing sports. He loved basketball and was also a good athlete but he couldn’t ignore his passion for design. He was not really artistic but at a young age, his teachers would usually ask for his opinion regarding how to fix up their classroom.
While having a job as a salesperson in an exclusive furniture, he supported his family. Then he became very interested with Brown Jordan and wooed the company for eight years. He would frequently send letters to the head of Brown Jordan and in such unexpected time, the president offered him a job in the said company.
After many years, Elton built such strong reputation for being able to know the company inside and out and he was then in charge of overseeing the media. One turning point of his career was when he worked under Frinier. For two decades, Frinier has been the chief creative officer of Brown Jordan and he worked with Steve Elton on selection of the fabrics to be used for the furniture. Elton was then given the task to handle fabric selections and he visited many places to study fabrics and also fashion.
Elton then became the chief branding officer when Frinier left the company and he would love to retell how one of those iconic pieces won that major award. For being with the company for 28 years, Elton really loves his job. He had been recently honored with the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award for his impressive contributions in the design industry given by International Casual Furnishings Association.
